My first stop for modifying my 'Creating Writers' website was the landing page. It was wordy and cramped. So I simplified it and put the detail on the follow-up pages helping to explain the ideas more succinctly.
I have created the next activities for my site 'Creating Writers'. They include slides for speech/dialogue and exaggeration at both an introductory level and a slightly more advanced set.
It was interesting when I shared the slides with the students. I found an old version of how to teach dialogue I used, and the reminder charts I included were helpful.
I had the same issue with this slide set, I realised I had created an exaggeration slide show a few years ago, used it, and then forgot about it. The ideas in these previous slides were great for identifying and locating exaggeration, so of course, I had to include them.
In our meeting tonight hopefully:
- I will have the videos set for public viewing (unlike last time).
- People will find what I have done helpful and easy to use.
After an update meeting with the Leaders of MIT. I am feeling great and on track and all the feedback was positive. A few suggestions were made such as having navigation at the top of the page, which was something I was thinking about, so I went ahead and added.
I was asked how I thought I could get this out there for teachers to use and was given a few great suggestions and mentioned we have student-teachers on-site at the moment.
The funny thing was when I showed the student-teachers the next day it took a while to figure out why the links weren't working after they were the night before. Duh, because I add pages to the navigation I didn't change the links on the drawing, hence they didn't work. But now it is fixed.
